Author, actor, and activist Maulik Pancholy was scheduled to speak at an anti-bullying assembly at Mountain View Middle School in Pennsylvania. He learned through social media that he had been disinvited after the school board unanimously voted – citing his “lifestyle” and “empathy.” After outrage, a petition, a five-hour meeting packed with community members, and an appearance on the Velshi Banned Book Club, Pancholy and his novel, ‘The Best At It’ was invited back to speak.Nov. 9, 2024
